Last updated: 8 September 2026 · Portolana is provided by Lari (termi.cloud), contact: lari@portolana.com.
Portolana is a digital travel companion for cruise trips. Among other things, the app helps you record a route, plan port days, display return times and reserves, save port information, and share selected trip information. Portolana is not a tour operator, travel agency or official app of any cruise line. It has no affiliation with TUI Cruises ("Mein Schiff"), AIDA, MSC, Costa, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess, Carnival, Celebrity or any other cruise line mentioned; those names are used solely for reference and are trademarks of their respective owners.
All content — in particular dwell times, "all aboard" / "back on board" times, prices, weather forecasts, tipping rules, travel-time estimates and return estimates — is non-binding guidance. Travel times may be based on distance, fixed assumptions and your optional current position; they are not live traffic or navigation data. Only the official information from your cruise line on board (daily program, announcements) is authoritative. Verify departure, ship and return times on board on the relevant day. Terms such as reserve, suitable or suggestion are not a guarantee that you will reach the ship or a connection.
Portolana sketch maps, offline port packs and Plan B suggestions are orientation aids. They do not replace navigation, safety instructions, local authority information or crew decisions. For real navigation, Portolana lets you choose between Apple Maps and Google Maps; offline maps must be prepared separately in the respective map app. For traffic, closures, weather warnings and accessibility, always also use current local sources. Offline port information may become outdated; external maps and current data may require a connection.
Use is at your own risk. To the extent permitted by law, liability for ordinary negligence is excluded — in particular for damage arising from missed departures, excursions or connections that is attributed to information in the app. Liability for gross negligence, intent and mandatory statutory liability remains unaffected. We are not responsible for third-party services provided by cruise lines, excursion providers or booking platforms.
Community tips, cabin reviews, onboard account/receipt capture, “Ask Portolana” and general accessibility ratings are not part of the publicly available version 1.0. Importing third-party cruise-line websites by URL is also blocked. Portolana therefore does not accept new community posts, reviews, receipt photos or free-form chat text through those functions in this version and does not fetch an import URL. Separate notices and, where necessary, updated Terms will apply before any later activation. Legacy expense data from earlier builds may remain locally and in the account snapshot, but is neither displayed nor newly shared in version 1.0.
Excursion buttons lead to external platforms (GetYourGuide, Viator). Any contract is concluded exclusively between you and the respective provider. The links can carry affiliate identifiers; this does not cost you extra.
You decide which available components appear on a shared trip page. Depending on your selection, these may include route and times, day plans and notes, excursions, onboard events, packing list, arrival/departure details and recap statistics. Onboard-account and expense data are not shared in version 1.0. You are responsible for sharing only your own content or information that others are permitted to see.
Shared trip pages are not publicly listed, but anyone with the code or link can open and forward them unless you set a password. A password is not a substitute for secure storage of highly confidential information. In particular, do not share identity-document, payment or health data, or third-party personal data without permission. You can set an expiry and delete the page using the management key stored on your device. If that key is lost, self-service deletion may no longer work; contact support in that case.
Trip import from photos, PDF pages or free-form text, and the import of photos of an onboard daily programme, are voluntary convenience functions. Content is evaluated in structured form through the Portolana server by an external AI service. Results may be incorrect, outdated or incomplete and must be checked by you — in particular the date, time zone, port, call times and return time. Importing third-party cruise-line websites by URL is not available in version 1.0.
Upload only content that you are permitted to have processed for this purpose. You must not use the function to bypass security mechanisms, copyright, database rights or third-party terms of use. Remove personal or sensitive details that are not needed before uploading. See the Privacy Policy for details.
The core of the app is free. "Portolana Plus" is an optional monthly or annual subscription. Its price, duration and included additional functions are shown in the app and App Store immediately before purchase. Only the information confirmed there for the relevant product forms part of the offer. A free trial or Family Sharing applies only if Apple expressly displays it in the purchase dialog. A one-time Trip Pass is not offered in version 1.0.
Purchase, billing and management run through your Apple account. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled in your Apple ID settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Deleting your Portolana account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Withdrawal and refunds are governed by mandatory consumer rights and Apple's process at reportaproblem.apple.com.
An account is optional (Sign in with Apple) and is used for backup and device sync. While you are signed in, the app may make automatic backups. Account deletion removes the account, server sessions and sync snapshot. It does not automatically delete local trip data, separately created shared trip pages or an Apple subscription. On account deletion, Portolana also attempts to revoke an existing Apple authorisation; for older accounts or after a technical error, you may still need to manage it in your Apple ID settings. See the Privacy Policy.
Portolana keeps a limited product and diagnostic buffer locally to fix errors and assess flows. Product analytics are sent to the Portolana server only if this option is technically available in the relevant release and you have expressly consented. Such data are not used for advertising, retargeting, profile sales or cross-app tracking. Details, retention periods and your rights are described in the Privacy Policy.
You agree not to misuse Portolana: do not attack its security or availability, make automated bulk requests, bypass rate limits, reverse engineer it beyond the limits permitted by law, use it unlawfully, or share credentials or tokens.
Portolana, its logo, design and copy are brand and product assets of Lari (termi.cloud), unless expressly attributed to third parties. Cruise-line, ship, port, booking-platform and map-provider names are used solely for identification and reference. Third-party rights remain unaffected.
We may adjust these terms; the current version is available at portolana.com/en/terms.html. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page.
Swiss law applies to these Terms unless mandatory provisions in your country of residence take precedence. If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, United Kingdom or a US state with mandatory consumer protections, those mandatory rights remain unaffected.
